Many patients believe that cosmetic dentistry is out of their reach due to cost and lack of insurance coverage. However, teeth whitening is an affordable and easy way to quickly improve the appearance of your smile without invasive procedures or too much time in the dental chair.
In fact, with our professional whitening system, you can easily achieve a smile that is several shades brighter with just a couple of weeks of at-home use. It’s convenient, affordable, and you can whiten your teeth on your own time when it is convenient for you.
Why Whiten My Teeth?
If you feel self-conscious about your smile, people detect those signals and may misinterpret your hesitance as an unfriendly or unapproachable nature. When you feel confident in your smile, you may smile more freely, appearing friendly and welcoming.
Your smile is one of the first things that people will notice about you. Whether you are applying for jobs or going out on dates, having a friendly smile will help your first impression be a success.
How Teeth Whitening Works
At our Highlands Ranch dental office, Dr. Sarira Martin, DDS, PC, wanted to offer the whitening system that had excellent results with fewer side effects. That is why she decided to use the Zoom professional take-home whitening system.
To get started, we recommend beginning your whitening program when your teeth are clean and free of tartar. Next, we will take impressions of your teeth in order to create your custom whitening trays. Once your trays are ready, we will demonstrate proper whitening techniques and provide you with several tubes of whitening gel. Taking a before and after shade allows you to see your progress from start to finish.
With custom whitening trays, you get the best results because they fit your teeth perfectly and hold the whitening gel securely in place. This helps to reduce sensitivity that can sometimes occur when you whiten your teeth.
You will also retain your whitening trays so that you can touch up your smile, as needed. If you run out of whitening gel, you can come by the office, where we will sell refills.
Common Side Effects of Teeth Whitening
It is likely that you will have fewer side effects with this custom system than with disposable trays or strips because your trays are designed to keep the whitening gel on your teeth and away from your gums. However, if you have gum recession or a history of sensitivity, you may experience tender gums or tooth sensitivity. Both conditions are temporary.
Taking a break from teeth whitening can help your symptoms disappear more quickly. If you still want to whiten your teeth, we can offer treatments to help reduce sensitivity.
